Green Velvet boxwood

Buxus 'Green Velvet'

‘Green Velvet’ is a compact hybrid boxwood valued for its dense, rounded form and improved cold hardiness. It maintains a soft green color through winter and resists bronzing better than many other cultivars. Used throughout the garden for structure and year-round foliage, it requires minimal shaping and can be left unclipped for a more natural appearance. Its slow growth and adaptability to partial shade make it especially useful in formal borders or near paths where space is limited.

A cross between Bruxus sempervirens and Bruxus microphylla, this cultivar is suited to evenly moist, well-drained soils and benefits from protection from winter wind and afternoon sun in colder climates.
