Pool House
ABOUT THE POOL HOUSE
The swimming pool came about at John’s suggestion, its beautiful stone coping salvaged from a basin in the south of France. Bunny, however, was adamant that it shouldn’t sit too close to the house; with only two short months of swimming weather in Connecticut, she wanted the pool to feel like a proper escape.
BORN FROM TREES
A hillside above the orchard seemed like the perfect answer, a place you’d reach by wandering through the apple trees. With the woods pressing in behind, she began thinking about how the pool house might belong to its setting rather than sit apart from it. Falls Village is full of Greek Revival architecture, and the idea of a Greek Temple came to her. Those ancient temples were first built of wood, after all, and logs would make the structure look as though it had simply emerged from the trees.
