ABOUT THE PARTERRE
The parterre garden is located on the west side of the barn, adjacent to the conservatory. The color scheme for the parterre garden changes every year, alternating between bright and cooler colors. First, tulips are planted, and then dug up to make way for annuals, which also adhere to the color scheme.
FORMAL GEOMETRY
An antique gate marks one entrance into the garden. Reclaimed brick lines the walkways that surround and intersect four main beds.
The clipped boxwood and hedges provide structure and formality, while ball-shaped standards are playfully juxtaposed within the geometry of the beds. Softer elements, such as the vine-covered arbor and pots with overflowing herbs, add looseness.
