Description

‘Green Mountain’ is a cold-hardy, upright hybrid boxwood developed at Sheridan Nurseries in Ontario, Canada. Naturally pyramidal, it requires minimal pruning to maintain form and is ideal for formal gardens, hedging, or as a specimen accent. Its small, glossy evergreen leaves retain their color well through winter, especially with some protection from wind and winter sun. A cross between Buxus sempervirens and Buxus microphylla, ‘Green Mountain’ combines the resilience of both parent species.

Boxwoods are native to parts of Europe, North Africa, and Asia, though this cultivar is a horticultural selection with no natural range. Like many boxwoods, it prefers well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil and partial to full sun. It benefits from mulch and regular watering during dry spells, especially when young or newly planted.
